Owners Matthew Millar & Amy Cook moved to Fennville in Sept. 2000. Wanting to begin a fresh dialogue about food and a new ethic in cooking, the two formulated a plan to create a community-centered restaurant. The name Journeyman was chosen because it is the 3rd stage in the process of learning a trade. While many chefs view the fourth stage, Master, as their ultimate goal, Chef Millar knows that his culinary expertise is a continual journey.
Journeyman opened its doors on December 6, 2003. While it began as a coffee house, the intention was always to evolve into a full service restaurant. Food service began July 2, 2004 with just 7 tables. The full restaurant and its grand opening happened on November 13, 2004. The restaurant’s liquor license became active on October 20, 2006. |
